Emerson Health is seeking a highly organized and customer focused Unit Coordinator to support our Adult Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic, and Oncology unit. This part time weekend position plays a critical role in maintaining unit flow, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring a positive experience for patients and families.

Working closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams, the Unit Coordinator helps drive efficiency, communication, and coordination of care in a fast paced hospital environment.

Schedule
Part time 16 hours per week
Weekends only (every weekend)
Day shift 7:00am to 3:30pm

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate daily unit operations to ensure smooth and efficient workflow
Provide clerical and administrative support to nursing and clinical staff
Serve as a central point of communication for physicians, staff, and patient families
Manage phone calls, messages, and patient information with professionalism
Support patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
Maintain accurate data entry and documentation in hospital systems
Promote a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and visitors


Minimum Qualifications

Education
High school diploma required
Coursework in secretarial studies, business, or medical terminology preferred

Experience
Previous administrative or secretarial experience required
Experience with Meditech or electronic health records preferred


Skills and Competencies

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong communication and professional telephone etiquette
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast paced environment
Accurate data entry and computer proficiency
