Supervisor of Respiratory Therapy

Hours: 1500-2330
Reports to and works closely with the Director of Cardio/Pulmonary/Neurology/Sleep to identify department and staff needs and to develop strategies for the resolution of same. Responsible for department-based orientation of new personnel, ongoing staff education and CQI activities and for assisting the manager in determining staffing needs and other department needs. Assists in patient care assessment, planning and evaluation of therapies and interventions and the resolution of problems. Displays practical judgment with the ability to make management decisions in the absence of the manager. Works cooperatively with the Pulmonary Lab Coordinator and Clinical Leader regarding clinical aspects of ABG lab quality assurance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy (RT) program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
- Experience
Minimum 5 years RT experience.
Minimum 5 years patient care experience.
- Licensure and/or Certification
Must have current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist.
RRT from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
BLS healthcare provider required.
NPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
Advanced NBRC certification(s) in critical care, Sleep Medicine or newborn/pediatric care are preferred.
