Operations Administrator - OR

The Operations Administrator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing staffing, scheduling, and day-to-day operational needs across assigned units, based on input from the Surgical Services Managers. This role involves close collaboration with Charge Nurses and Managers to ensure staffing plans align with both the surgical block schedule and departmental priorities, proactively addressing short- and long-term staffing gaps.
Key responsibilities include accurately coding and entering data into staffing, scheduling, and payroll systems to support operational efficiency and data integrity. The Operations Administrator maintains continuous communication with Surgical Services leadership, including Managers, Clinical Resource Nurses, Service Line Leads, and Charge Nurses.
Additionally, this role partners with the Operations and Business Manager and the Charge ORA/Anesthesia Technician to support a regulatory-ready Environment of Care. Active participation in leadership rounding across Surgical Services is expected, with a focus on completing regulatory checklists and ensuring compliance. The Operations Administrator also follows up with ancillary departments to resolve equipment repairs and address Environment of Care concerns in a timely manner.
The Operations Administrator works with SDC/OR Charge Nurses and acts as a liaison between departments. Monitoring the flow of patients, turnovers, equipment, and all service requests.
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business preferred.
- Experience
- Previous hospital purchasing experience preferred.
- Licensure and/or Certification
- None required.
- Skills
- Verbal and written communication along with numerical ability.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Computer skills required (MS Word, Excel).
- Meditech experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
