ONCOLOGY NURSE NAVIGATOR

Shift: Day shift
Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Pay Range: $35.71 - $70.03 per hour
The Breast Oncology Clinical Navigator (BOCN) is an experienced oncology clinician responsible for the individualized needs assessment of cancer patients, family members and their care givers. The Navigator readily identifies personal and systemic barriers and through problem solving and referrals, helps to improve access to treatment thereby achieving better patient outcomes. The BOCN reports to the ACNO of Ambulatory Services or their designee and works collaboratively with all members of the oncology and surgical teams.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field preferred
- Experience
- 1 year of experience in breast care navigation preferred.
- Licensure and/or Certification
- Healthcare certification that includes patient navigation training or comparable training approved by National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) standards.
- Skills
- Strong oncology and chemotherapy knowledge base.
- Basic knowledge of insurance reimbursement systems
- Working knowledge of financial hardships and payer coverage
- Working knowledge of national, regional, and community resources
- Knowledge of self-care strategies and resources
- Adheres to established regulations concerning patient information and privacy
- Critical-thinking skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to work both in teams and autonomously
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Basic computer skills
