NURSE PRACTITIONER/PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Job Summary
Reporting to the Medical Director of the Critical Care Unit, provides daily evaluation and management to inpatients. This work will be in collaboration with the Critical Care Intensivist, and any physician involved with each patient.
_The supervising physician of record will be one of the critical care intensivist for purposes of establishing a collaboration agreement for licensure and prescribing status as well as periodic performance reviews. Day-to-day nurse practitioner/physician assistant patient care supervision may be delegated to any one of the on-site intensivist, as applicable. The degree of autonomy of the nurse practitioner/physician assistant daily practice will depend on the details of each particular case and the preferences and skills of the NP/PA. The intensivist will always be accessible by phone and available to return to the hospital if needed.  A hospitalist will always be in house and, available to come to the bedside if more immediate physician presence is needed.  The NP/PA works in accordance with Hospital privileges.
Minimum Qualifications

Education
• Completion of a Bachelor's Degree and an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program.
Experience
• Acute-Care Nursing Practitioner Diploma or Adult Nurse Practitioner graduate with 2 years of acute care or critical care inpatient experience.
• Acute-Care Physician Assistant Post Graduate training with 2 years of acute care or critical care experience.  
Licensure and/or Certification
• Current licensure as nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
• National certification with recertification as required every six years.
• BLS Healthcare provider required.
• ACLS certification required.
• BLS Healthcare provider required.
• Must be able to attain and maintain privileges at Emerson Hospital as Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant.
