Nurse Manager – Labor & Delivery | Perinatal Services | Leadership Opportunity
Are you a passionate nursing leader ready to make a meaningful impact in Labor & Delivery and Perinatal Education? We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager, Labor & Delivery (L&D) to lead a high-performing team and ensure exceptional, patient-centered care for growing families.
In this dynamic leadership role, you will partner closely with the Director of Obstetrical Nursing to oversee 24/7 operations, drive clinical excellence, and support a collaborative, supportive environment for both patients and staff.

What You’ll Do
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee 24-hour operations of Labor & Delivery and Perinatal Education units
- Ensure optimal staffing, skill mix, and resource allocation to meet patient care needs
- Maintain and manage department schedules, staffing plans, and timecards
- Lead daily shift huddles to align teams on patient care priorities and operational plans
- Serve as Charge Nurse when working clinically
Team Development & Engagement
- Coach, mentor, and support staff through real-time feedback, goal setting, and performance management
- Conduct annual performance evaluations using established tools and standards
- Promote professional growth, education, and career development opportunities
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new team members
Clinical Excellence & Quality
- Collaborate with leadership and educators to develop, update, and implement policies and best practices
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, DPH, and regulatory standards
- Support ongoing staff education including new equipment, policies, and clinical programs
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with Postpartum and Special Care Nursery leadership to ensure continuity of care
- Foster strong interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
- Represent the organization with professionalism in all interactions
Patient Care
- Provide and support direct patient care as needed
- Uphold and advocate for patient rights, privacy, dignity, and respect
- Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care
What You Bring
- Strong background in Labor & Delivery / Women’s Health Nursing
- Proven experience in nursing leadership or charge nurse roles
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent skills in team leadership, conflict resolution, and communication
- Passion for maternal-child health and patient-centered care
Schedule & Flexibility
- Leadership role with operational and clinical responsibilities
- Includes dayshift leadership coverage with support across weekends and holidays as needed
