Your Role
- Partner in the development and delivery of individualized patient care plans
- Lead therapeutic groups and provide one-on-one patient support
- Help ensure safe, compassionate admissions and a calm unit environment
- Mentor and support mental health counselors during shifts
- Collaborate closely with the Charge Nurse and interdisciplinary team
- Accurately document patient interactions and observations
- Welcome and help train new team members
- Contribute to quality improvement efforts and a positive patient experience
- Advocate for patient dignity, safety, and rights
- Support continuous improvement efforts on the unit and hospital-wide

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Behavioral Health Nursing, provides comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, and in accordance with the stated philosophy and objectives of the Behavioral Health Department and Nursing Service Department. The Mental Health Counselor is accountable for the safety of the care they deliver.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred. Degree in a field related to mental health preferred.
Experience
Minimum one year experience in inpatient psychiatric environment or psychiatric triage preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification
BLS healthcare provider required.
CPI achieved within 3 months of hire required.

Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
