Medical Technologist - Bacteriology Per Diem

Shift: Day shift
Hours: 7am - 3:30pm
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Basic Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science and Graduate of an approved program in Medical Laboratory Science required; or previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under March 14, 1990, rules (Medicare/CLIA ’67) on or before February 28, 1992.
- Experience
- Minimum one year of experience in all areas of the Laboratory or Microbiology Department preferred. New graduates from an accredited school of Medical Technology are considered to have one year of Laboratory experience in all areas of the Laboratory.
- Licensure and/or Certification
- ASCP preferred.
- Skills
- Must have the ability to act based on review of policies, protocols, procedures and methodologies.
- Requires knowledge of basic laboratory methods and Microbiology principles.
- Working knowledge of automated and manual laboratory equipment. Manual dexterity sufficient to effect venipuncture and safely handle specimens, calibrate equipment, etc.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Good knowledge of quality control principles.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, outside agencies, vendors, and fellow staff members.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
