Clinical Office Coordinator-General Surgery

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Practice Manager and General Surgeons, the Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician.
Job Functions:
?-Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
? -Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately.
? -Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
? -Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications.
? -Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.)
? -Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary.
? -Communicates with physicians’ offices and staff in a timely and professional manner.
? -Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
? -Schedules and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient
? -Enters daily and surgical billing charges to Athena
? -Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications:
? Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
? Experience: One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred.
? Licensure and/or Certification: Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred.
? Skills:
? -Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required.
? -Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred.
? -Knowledge of Athena based scheduling/billing software helpful
? -Strong customer service skills.
? -Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
? -Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
? -Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
? -Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred.
? -Ability to maintain confidential information required.
