Job Summary
- Reporting to the Office Manager of Emerson Cardiovascular Associates and working under the immediate direction of the Physician(s), the Cardiac Sonographer performs a wide variety of Diagnostic Cardiographic testing on patients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
- Completion of a Certified Ultrasound program required.
- Cardiac Sonography certificate program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or equivalent required.
- Experience
- Minimum of two years experience performing and interpreting 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler Echocardiograms.
- Vascular Ultrasound experience preferred.
- Licensure and/or Certification
- BLS healthcare provider required.
- Current registration as RDCS or RCS required; or registry-eligible with RDCS or RCS achieved within 6 months of hire.
- Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be well versed in medical terminology
- Ability to explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to the patient and answer patient’s questions
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular and thoracic anatomy, cardiovascular pathophysiology, hemodymanics and embryology, in order to recognize normal and abnormal cardiovascular structure, function and abnormalities of blood flow.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and measurements of blood flow.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Computer skills required.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
