Job Summary
• The administrative assistant assists the office manager and physician directors with the daily operations of the Hospitalist Group Medical Practice, including assisting with the clerical support of all employees within the Hospitalist Department. Shares the role of liaison between Hospitalist employees and all outside physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, pharmacies and outside agencies. The administrative assistant processes procurement items for the physician office. Submits accurate and timely payroll information for the Adult & Pediatric Hospitalist Group including and the orthopedic/surgical and Spaulding midlevel providers. Processes accounts payable information. Performs administrative duties to ensure the efficiency of the office practice including answering phones, tracking paperwork, interacting with other departments at Emerson Hospital, such as accounting, human resources and fiscal
Minimum Qualifications
• Education
o High School Degree and some clerical work experience required
• Experience
o Preferably two years of billings and/or data capture functions.
o Health Care Experience preferred.
• Licensure and/or Certification
o None required.
• Skills
o Excellent customer service skills.
o Must be able to maintain confidential information
o Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required.
o Must be able to maintain confidential information
o Ability to respond to change in job responsibilities and office workflows.
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required.
o Knowledge of Meditech and GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred.
o Knowledge of Kronos for payroll desirable
o Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
o Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
o Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred.
